Introducing Kintone's Enhanced Search Page: A Smarter Way to Find Your Information!
Kintone has launched a new search function that significantly improves the user experience. This update allows users to refine their search results by location and data type, making it easier to find the information they need, whether it's apps, spaces, or attached files.
Key features of the new search function include:
◾️Improved Filtering Options
Users can now narrow their searches based on specific criteria such as location or file type, enhancing the precision of results.
◾️Detailed Match Information
The new interface provides extra details when there are matches for app names and space names, helping users quickly identify the correct items and saving valuable time.
◾️Instructions for Using the New Search Function
With the December 2024 update, you can switch between the legacy and new search functions.
Starting with the January 2025 update, only the new search function will be available.
Note:
- You can turn off this function to switch between the legacy and new versions through the update options.
- In environments where the Current Channel is selected, the option to switch to the new search function will be available before the December updates.
Feature Improvements
Kintone's updated maintenance mode settings now allow specific users to view and update records during maintenance periods while restricting access for regular users.
This update enables you to restrict access for regular users while permitting selected users to perform essential tasks such as changing app settings and conducting batch updates. Once all updates have been verified and issues resolved, normal app usage can resume seamlessly.
This significant enhancement addresses the limitation that users could not interact with records during maintenance mode, providing greater flexibility and control over app management.
API Updates
In Kintone's latest update, the specification changes will be made to the return value of the language property in the JavaScript API to obtain information about logged-in users.
- If Kintone's language is Traditional Chinese, the return value will change from 'zh' to 'zh-TW'.
- If the language setting is Use web browser settings and Kintone does not support the language used in the web browser, the return value will change to 'en'.

Other Updates
Transition to the New File Importing Method in Kintone
The legacy file-importing method will no longer be accessible on the file import page.
From now on, files will be imported using the New File Importing Method, which has been available since the August update.
Our Kintone development team is constantly working on new features.
These new features will be added to Kintone's New Features in Development without your prior notice.
However, you can enable the new features by navigating to Kintone Administration, selecting Update Options, and deciding on New Features in Development settings. This gives you complete control over the features you want to enable, as they will not be enabled automatically.
The Kintone development team is actively researching and developing a new plugin creation method. In the upcoming December update, users can try customizing using the plugin created by the new method for the record list view.
You can enable this feature through the update options; however, please note that it is still in development and may behave unexpectedly. We advise against using it in your production environment and recommend testing it only in a verification environment.
In the current method, all plugins' JavaScript (JS) and CSS run within the same execution environment as Kintone. In contrast, the new method will allow each plugin's JS and CSS to operate within an iframe, creating an independent execution environment.
Additionally, it is now possible to declare in the manifest.json file whether the created plugin references information, whether it writes data, and whether it communicates externally. This information can then be presented to the user.
For instance, a plugin declared not to communicate can be executed in an environment where communication is not permitted.
Update Options
Update Options is a tool that allows administrators to control how Kintone updates are applied. Administrators can choose when to roll out updates to their team using the options.
To access Update Options, click the gear wheel to the left of the search bar and select Kintone Administration. Select Update Options under Other.
