New and improved features

Users can now be notified when a record they are viewing or editing has been updated

When a record is updated while you are viewing or editing it, a message notifying you of the update is now displayed at the top of the screen. This lets you quickly notice that a record has been updated, so you can proceed with your work based on the latest record content or make edits based on it.

"Record details" screen

A notice that the record has been updated, along with the updated date and time, is displayed at the top of the Record details screen. For example, it appears when another user updates the record or changes its status. The Refresh record link reloads the record excluding comments, and while editing, you can open the latest record in a separate tab from Open latest version.

• The wording of the error shown when you save edits that were not based on the latest record has also been changed.
• If viewing the Updated datetime field is not permitted under the app's field permissions, the updated datetime is not shown in the message.

Search results can now be sorted by relevance in all-contents and in-app searches

We have added "Relevance" as a sort order for all-contents search, in-app search, and in-space search. Even older information may appear near the top when it is highly relevant to the search keywords. The sorting uses a widely adopted method that takes into account factors such as how frequently each keyword appears and the priority of distinctive keywords.

You can select Relevance from the sort order at the top right of the search results. Try switching to it when results are hard to find when sorting by created datetime.

• Relevance is a feature that was offered before. It was discontinued once, but it is now being offered again.

The app list on the "App management" screen can now be filtered

We have added a filter feature to the app list on the App management screen. You can filter apps by specifying conditions such as having records last updated more than one year ago or having two or fewer app administrators. This lets you quickly identify the apps that need to be checked when taking inventory of your apps.

You can filter apps by specifying conditions for each item. You can also combine multiple items.

The new notifications screen with in-notification search and bulk mark-as-read is now generally available

The new notifications screen, equipped with in-notification search and a bulk mark-as-read feature, is now generally available.

New "Notifications" screen

Since the May release, the new notifications screen has been offered as a feature that users could switch to from the conventional notifications screen, allowing each user to choose. With this update, the new notifications screen becomes the default display. Note that on the current channel and in new environments, the ability to switch to the conventional notifications screen will be discontinued. On the monthly channel as well, the switching feature is scheduled to be discontinued in the upcoming August release.

July release (this update):

• Monthly channel: The new notifications screen becomes the default display, and a button to switch to the conventional notifications screen is shown.
• Current channel: The ability to switch to the conventional notifications screen is discontinued.

August release:

• Monthly channel: The ability to switch to the conventional notifications screen is discontinued. (Can be disabled via Update options until November)

November release:

• Monthly channel: The new notifications screen can no longer be disabled via update options.

New features under consideration

Below are features currently under consideration. You can try these features by enabling them on the Update options screen in Kintone administration. We welcome your feedback on these features. Please submit feedback via the Help us improve Kintone form.

Note that features under consideration may undergo specification changes or have their availability on the Update options screen started/ended at any time, not just during scheduled maintenance.

The front-end infrastructure is being renewed ("App settings" screen and more)

To improve the speed of future product enhancements, the Kintone development team is progressively renewing the front-end technical infrastructure—used since the product's initial release—across various screens. This time, the front-end infrastructure of several screens, including the App settings screen, has been newly renewed, and the layout and parts have been partially changed accordingly.

The field value change event can now fire on lookup fields as well

The field value change event will now also fire on Lookup fields. This lets you write processing for lookup fields in the same way as for other field types. In addition, the lookup field values included in the record information obtained via the JavaScript API or events will now include a boolean indicating whether the lookup has been performed, as well as the record ID of the looked-up record. This makes customizations that start from looked-up values more accurate and easier to implement. We welcome your feedback on this feature through the Help us improve Kintone form.

Update options

Update Options is a tool that allows administrators to control how updates are applied. Using the options, administrators can choose when to roll out updates to their team. 

Available update options for Kintone

To access Update Options, click the gear wheel to the left of the search bar and select Kintone administration. Select Update options under Other. 

Note that these features may be modified outside of scheduled updates. Check the Update options screen in Kintone administration for the latest status.
