Enhanced User API Authentication with API Tokens
The Administration now supports issuing API tokens to authenticate the User API. This new feature allows developers to perform actions more securely by including an API token in the request header.
Each token can be customized with specific scopes, which lets you limit permissions based on the required operations.
Previously, the only way to authenticate the User API was by using the user's password, and there were no options to restrict permissions.
API token settings page:
Scopes for API Token Permissions:
Scope | Actions that can be performed |
Read | Information can be obtained using the User API. |
Read and write | The User API allows information to be obtained, added, updated, and deleted. However, actions related to adjusting the number of user accounts in administration settings cannot be performed. |
Dangerous zone | All operations related to the User API are permitted. |
Note:
Users can execute the User API using API token authentication, even if Require the two-factor authentication is enabled in the login security settings.
New Features in Development
Our Kintone development team is constantly working on new features.
Without your prior notice, these new features will be added to Kintone's New Features in Development.
However, you can enable the new features by navigating to Kintone Administration, selecting Update Options, and deciding on New Features in Development settings. This gives you complete control over the features you want to enable, as they will not be enabled automatically.
A new option has been introduced in the file import settings that allow users to choose between Only add new records and Update and add records. This change enhances the import process by enabling users to reflect the appropriate actions.
When users select Update and add records, only the relevant settings for updating existing records will be displayed, simplifying the configuration process to align with their objectives. Previously, even if a user wanted to add records on the file import page, the Key to bulk update setting was always shown. This often led to confusion when users were adjusting their settings.
These changes are part of the App Settings Facelift initiative. Additionally, the layout and design have been updated to improve the ease of setting up file imports.
Note:
This function was initially set for release in February 2025 but has now been postponed to March 2025.
