Feature Improvements
Kintone's latest update brings real-time formula error alerts, allowing you to catch and fix errors as you enter formulas. This user-friendly enhancement will enable you to identify and correct potential issues earlier, bolstering your confidence in using Kintone.
Previously, formula errors in form formulas were only displayed after you clicked 'Save Form' or 'Update App' in the app settings, which could be inconvenient. With the new update, these errors are shown as a notice while entering a formula, making your work smoother and more efficient.
Before: An error occurs when the wrong formula is entered and the form is saved.
After: An error appears immediately upon entering the wrong formula.
The following errors are now displayed when entering formulas:
- The field code included in the formula does not exist.
-
The function argument is insufficient or has exceeded the limit.A non-existent function is specified, etc.
In Kintone's latest update, app settings have been enhanced to display an error message when a formula with an inappropriate combination of operator and data type is entered.
Previously, no message was shown when an invalid combination of operator and data type for the formula was entered, and the error ("#VALUE!") was only displayed when the record was opened after updating the app settings. This improvement ensures errors are caught during formula input, leading to a smoother user experience.
Before: An error is displayed when entering a formula with an improper operator and data type combination and then updating the app settings.
After: An error is displayed when entering a formula with an improper operator and data type combination.
API Updates
Enhanced REST API Functionality for Managing Plug-ins
Kintone has enhanced the REST API to manage imported plug-ins dynamically in your Kintone environment. With this update, administrators can retrieve a list of imported plug-ins, import new ones, and update or delete existing plug-ins. Additionally, plug-in developers can now more effectively verify the function of their plug-ins.

Utilize REST API to Access Unimported Plug-ins
Kintone's latest product update introduces a powerful enhancement for administrators. With the new REST API, administrators can effortlessly access a list of plug-ins included in apps that still need to be imported into their Kintone environment. This feature empowers administrators to swiftly identify which plug-ins need to be imported, streamlining the management of their Kintone environment.
For additional information, please visit the Kintone developer network at https://kintone.dev/en/news/api-updates/2024-07/
REST API now enables easy retrieval of the list of apps with specific plug-ins, giving administrators greater control and access.

Easily Add Plug-ins to Your App Using REST API
Kintone's recent product update now enables administrators to easily incorporate plug-ins into their apps using the REST API. With this update, they can effortlessly add plug-ins to their apps by utilizing the REST API in combination with the API released in May, which allows them to retrieve a list of plug-ins that have been added to the app.

Enhanced App Settings Management
Kintone has launched a new REST API that enables users to retrieve and update app settings, such as record titles and miscellaneous settings. Previously, these settings could not be accessed or updated via the API.
The following app settings can now be retrieved and updated via the API through this update:
• Record title
• Show thumbnails
• Enable bulk deletion of records
• Enable comments
• Enable the feature to "duplicate record."
• Precision of numbers and calculations
• First month of Fiscal Year
For more information, please visit the Kintone developer network at: https://kintone.dev/en/news/api-updates/2024-07/
Kintone has introduced a new feature in the app settings that enables administrators to restrict users from editing or deleting records directly from the record list page. This enhancement improves data integrity by requiring users to edit or delete records only through the record details page rather than the record list page.
Upcoming Updates
The following is a partial schedule of the forthcoming updates.
The content is current and subject to change.
Changes to File Importing Method
The Kintone development team plans to make the "new file import method" the default file importing method in future updates. The current file importing method will still be available for a certain period after the "new file importing method" is launched but will be discontinued after that.
The current file import process can significantly impact Kintone's performance and cause it to run slower. To reduce the possibility of performance degradation and to provide a more stable Kintone, the current import method will no longer be available.
The new file-importing method has already been available since 2023. You can try using it through "New Features in Development" from August 2023, which can be enabled on the "Update Options" page.
Please refer to the August 2023 updates for more information on this feature.

API Updates: Introducing API Token Authentication for Enhanced Security
The Kintone development team is developing API token authentication as a new way to authenticate using the User API. API token authentication is already available for the REST API for managing Kintone records and apps, and it will soon be supported by the User API.
With API token authentication, users can generate tokens from the User & System Administration page, which are exclusively used for the User API. This method offers a more secure and restricted operation than traditional password authentication. It can also be used if two-factor authentication is required.
